Reel not reeling as smooth as before...

Featured Replies

I have a revo sx (09) and I use it for tossing swimbaits.  After a few months it has started to feel like there is some resistance when reeling, I have oiled the bearings as well as the anti reverse bearing. Are there any suggestions or insights as to why this may be happening? Thanks in advance!

Any chance you got some dirt/grit built up in the pawl area?  If there's grease in there it will collect dirt  and can bind up.  I'd remove that and clean it, then keep it lubed with just a couple drops of oil every other trip or so.

If your going far enough to do an R&R of the worm gear/pawl, you might just as well brake down the reel completely and deep clean it, re-lube properly and be done with it...........

Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

Like RM said, a thorough cleaning and lube is in order whether you DIY or send it out. adding oil to something that hasn't been cleaned can temporarily mask a problem or even compound it.
