I'm still stuck in the 50s. My newest reel is over 35 years old and several of mine are over 60 years old and they still work like new.

I grew up at my grandfather's Three Rivers Boat Dock & Resturant at the confluence of the Holston, French Broad and Tennessee Rivers in Knoxville, TN back in the 50s and 60s. Seemed like most everyone used Mitchell's back in those days.

These are the Mitchell's that I've inherited and purchased and salvaged from the garbage dump over the years.

My first reel was an Airex Bache Brown Model 3 that my grandpa gave me. I didn't get a Mitchell 300 until about 1960 when I saved up enough money to buy one.

This is a picture of me and my old half bail Airex back in '57.

Got a question for some of you megabass rod-heads. Looking at you guys @rippin-lips and @Redlinerobert

What Destroyer would be the best for  T-rigs, Jigs and spinnerbaits. I normally fish them all on the same rod, a 6'10" MH Duckett White Ice by am looking to get into the JDM(cool kids) market. I'm pretty set on a Destroyer, so please don't recommend something else.

Big One,

Sorry but I'm not much help on the newer Megabass Rods.  The sweet spot for me and Megabass are the rods produced between 2006 and 20010, in my opinion that was the epitome of the Megabass line.  I have one newer Diablo that I had converted to a slant bridge rod, but other than that all my rods are ~ 10 years old.

How heavy of a trig and jigs are you talking?  If only up to 3/8 oz then the Daemos is likely the ticket based on what I've been told by Gary at Tackle Trap. The FMJ is a fantastic rod but in the limited use I've had with mine I don't think I'd love it for slinging spinnerbaits and it's a powerful stick. FMJ is money for jigs and trigs over 3/8 oz.

I'm more or less set on the Orochi Extreme Mission Type F, don't know what you're saying about the FMJ.

Thats going to be an awesome rod for your purpose, you should really enjoy it.

Just saying the FMJ is a great stick for jigs and trigs over 3/8oz.

I'm small potatoes next to some of you guys, but here's my rig....Okuma FINA spinning (loaded with 10lb PowerPro) and Field & Stream 6' 6" Tech-Spec rod. Some of the crankbaits I use: Rapala Fat-Rap, Dive-To and X-Rap.

Wow, is that a NIB one? I have a PX68 that I really like and have wanted to try and find a Type-R as well.

Arrived home yesterday from an well needed two weeks vacation, today i went to my brother house, who was kind enough to receive it for me, to pick up my new E6X SWB 884C. Paired with my 5.1:1 BB1 makes a really nice combo for smaller swimbaits and heavy cranks:

Now it´s ready to go it the water for the first time... maybe this sunday!

Nice snag! I grabbed an Airy Red Pixy a few weeks back. Really like the reel and the way it casts and fishes.

The NRX 852 is a more stiffer sensitive blank in my hands.

Both rods are labeled as Medium but the MB Addermine is more lighter in action, almost between a M and ML.

It also feels more like a fast action vs ex fast like the NRX.

What makes the Addermine special is how it feels in the hand, the sensitivity is excellent (not NRX excellent but still very good) and the build is simply amazing, its also better balanced then the 852 NRX.

The Addermine is a better drop shot, ned, wheel head, flick shake rod, it handles lighter lures better.

The NRX is a better tube, senko, shakey head, small jig rod, it handles heavier lures better.

I liked the 852 NRX so much I got it in casting also.

But both can be used for the same technique.

even though its a jig and worm rod, I use my E6X 852s for everything, and find it makes a great spinnerbait rod for 1/4 to 3/8 oz.  spinnerbaits.
