Have a couple stick jacket's that are too long and are impossible to get off when ever they go over weed guards. Has anyone tried trimming them down, was thinking about cutting them down to size, burning the end with a lighter, then fold back inside? has anyone tried this?

Some brands are shorter than others. I have a few different brands. One of them, I forgot which brand or where I got it, is about a foot shorter than the Stick Jackets, Rod Gloves, and the ones that I really like that they sell at Gander Mountain.

They're really easy to turn inside out. Just figure out how high you want to be, and pinch it there. Then push the open end over the part where you're pinching. Works great for the casting models. I haven't tried it on a spinning rod one, but you might have trouble getting it over spinning guides if you use the method because doubling it over makes it tighter.

Could you just put a rubber band or zip tie on the top? This way you could use it on a different rod in the future.

I just roll the bottom up.
