I see these fish attractors in the FL lakes, I go over to them and I see a bunch of fish symbols on my cheap depth finder.  I cast out with all kinds of different lures and I get no bites.  Often I hand up and break off.

What exactly are these fish attractors?  Is it like a chum bag?  A deer feeder?  A block of food?  I dont get it.

Also are these fish I am seeing TONS of on my screen or are they parts of the feeder.  Are they catfish and crappie or what?

How do you catch fish off these things?  They must be there for a reason.

I fish around them, usually to the deeper side.  I think the fish you are seeing are baitfish and smaller sunfish.

Oh so they arent food sources, just structure?  For some reason I had a picture in my mind of some kind of mineral block of compacted fish food that they sink and then come back and change out once or twice a year.

They are structure. Tenoroc uses old plastic orange crates. Picnic Lk used to have a bunch of them in a canal that leads to the back and we used to catch, on average, 25-35 Bass per trip from that area alone! We caught a 10 lber from out of there back in '99.  I used to catch a LOT of 4-8 lb Bass from that area. One time I caught a 28" Channel Cat on a finesse worm by those crates. The fish love them!

We have these in Lake Weir near Ocala, FL.  They are prescribed places to dump structure.  I have seen a large pontoon boat drive over to the marker and dump in about 5 christmas trees tied down with cinder blocks.
