As we prepare for our coldest weather in almost five years......what do you guys think about our beloved peacocks? They have been moving further and further north with these warm winters.

Water temp yesterday was 64-66 degrees where i was fishing(Central PBC). I wouldnt be surprised to see it be 57-59 degrees if not lower this week. Hopefully not too much lower.

Lets prey they have some deep water to head too. *fingers crossed*

I have been thinking the same thing today. With temps heading into the high 30's I hope they make it through this. I know the lake I fish that holds peacocks has some deep pockets up to 30 feet deep. Hopefully they can survive this.

you will probably see some dead ones after this front rolls through. i recall a couple of years ago we had a series of really bad cold fronts and i saw a bunch of dead peacocks in northwestern broward county. i am not a biologist, but i am willing to bet that the peacocks that are down south (like southern broward and dade county) have adapted to the colder weather.

Sadly, below 60 degrees and they are toast. These cold sessions come through periodically, and it back to southern Broward and Dade county for a while.

Froze my buns off in Coconut Creek Monday morning and no peacocks, however I managed 1 small one in the afternoon in Delray near my home.

I'm going to hit some spots after the cold front this week.  I hope I don't see many floaters.  They usually bite really good after the little fronts recently.

I agree. With the extra cold weather coming through, you're going to definitely see a fish kill, and I'd bet a fairly large one. Hey, at least the LM bass can eat them!
