NOVA Tackle shops, are there any?

Featured Replies

I was wondering if any of you all have found a tackle shop in NOVA for freshwater. Everything I can find is either fly fishing or BPS in Maryland which is a bit further then I like driving from Annandale.

I mean there is always Walmart but its not quite the same  :-/

Have you all found anything near by or do you all just order online from the sponsors.

Thanks in advance

Dave,

-Dicks Sporting Goods off the Prince William Parkway in Woodbridge (by Potomac Mills Mall)

-Dawson's off of Route One in Woodbridge, it's an archery, fishing and hunting store.

Unfortunately Boater's World closed down last month. they used to have some stuff other's didn't carry too often. Anyway, those are my primary two.

You can always take a trip south and hit up Gander Mountain in Fredericksburg. Haven't been there yet so not sure of the selection. I think it is off of Route Three if I'm not mistaken but don't quote me on that. I know it's near the central park area.

Thanks!

For some reason I dint realize Dicks had that good of a lure selection and never even heard of Dawson's.

I'm looking for some crank baits and wanted to buy the first few where I could see what I was getting.

I will check those out ASAP :)

Thanks!

It looks like your in Fairfax, so, the Dicks at Fair Lakes is prob. closer than the one in Woodbridge.  There's also one in Arlington.

I order most of my stuff online at Tackle Warehouse or Basspro, but Dick's in Fair Lakes probably has the best tackle selection in the immediate area. There's another one at Dulles Town Center, but their selection is usually pretty weak. If you don't mind a drive, Greentop in Richmond is awesome too.

The best fishing stores in the area are Dick's at Fair Lakes and the Dick's at the Dulles Town Center. Neither of them are that great but they are the best we have.

The Gander Mountain in Fredericksburg is, in fact off of Rt. 3 near the Central Park shopping area. I have stopped there many times. It is a pretty good store. They have a decent selection but it's no Bass Pro shop. There is also another Gander Mountain in Winchester which is roughly the same distance and could be a substantially shorter trip depending on traffic.

If any of you guys haven't been to Greentop near Ashland, VA then you need to go. There is a Gander Mountain, a Bass Pro Shop and Greentop all within a few miles. Greentop has some AWESOME stuff and great customer service. The other two have bigger selections but they don't carry some of the cool items that Greentop has.

Warbirds is pretty good.

Really? I heard Warbirds hasn't been too great lately. Something about not being able to carry too much stock because of high overhead.
