Frozen Over ARGG

Featured Replies

So I have tried to find a lake to fish these last few days.  I am a bank beater, and I have been to 5 different lakes in the past 2 days all of them are frozen over.  I have never seen a lake frozen over in my area in all of my life.  I realize I have not been looking all of my life, but it is now really bothering me.  I don't know what I am going to go for the next month or two.

Sorry I just had to vent.  Tight Lines for those of you who can fish, and for those of you who can't like myself I hope the spawn comes soon.

I feel you, here in iowa theres a couple of places that have over 10 inches of ice. It'll be 2 more months before winter starts to give up and 2 more before its fit to fish. I as well am going insane.

Most of my little lakes near me here in TN froze over several days ago. The three largest lakes still have some open water.

QUESTION for experienced cold-weather anglers - do fish have any tendency to hold under or adjacent to the open water areas - better oxygenation there or something? Or does the open water have no relation to fish position. I'm just wondering if it would do any good to toss a lipless crank or perhaps some spoons into those open water areas that I can reach from the bank....

Is this the part where I shouldn't complain because it's 55 degrees out?

That would be yes !  (and I just moved from SoCal to TN last year so I used to be one of ya...)

And this would be the part where us northerners glare at you.
