Lake Walk in Water

Featured Replies

I have an opportunity to fish this lake next weekend for the first time ever. Anyone have any tips they would like to share. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd be interested in hearing about this lake as well. I've driven past it on 60 about a million times but have never checked it out. Anyone know about the boat ramp or facilities there??  I need to take a recon trip on the motorcycle.

Fish the bullrush and the canals go to southpascobasmasters.com and look at 2009 results march and you will see why, thats where the winners fished. My all time favorite lake.... also look at the pics in photo gallery for March

OK, now I have to take a ride down there!!  When we go that direction, we hit Camp Mack or the very shallow but fun to fish, Lake Rosalie.

depending on what ramp you use at Walk-in-Water be carefull the county ramp is VERY shallow for about 10 yards by the dock but after that you will be fine also Rattletraps around hydrilla is killer there if the water temp is high enough like around 65+

oh yeah and if you manage to hook a blue Plano tacklebox overflowing with new tackle gimmie a call haha

I'll do my best to scare them away with my Ratt L Trap technique   :D

man on that lake you could use the Ratt L Trap bluewater 3 1/2 oz and they would eat it.  ;D

The next warm day we have, I'm going to take a ride down there on the bike.  My parents final resting place is in Lake Wales so I can make my spring grave sweeping and lake recon in one trip :)    My boat is still at the Tracker service center in Orlando   >:(  They better get it figured out SOON.

Have fun but I think the water temp still need to come up for it to really get hot. let me know how you do I know its getting real good on the coast with the Ratt L Trap as the water temp keeps rising but this danm cold front just rolled through and the low in the 30's all week aint gunna help.

Ya, it's too cold and too windy to think about fishing this week.  Tracker just called and said they couldn't find ANYTHNING wrong with my motor  :P  so they need to lake test it...........which they can't do until the wind lets up  >:(

In my opinion the *)@! ethanol gas is probably what's giving my motor fits   >:(

Sta-bil Ethenol treatment; buy it and use it with every tank and it will help. What is wrong with your boat?

The motor is almost brand new, probably less than 10 hours.  One minute it will run fine, the next, it bogs down and runs like crap.  It starts easily and I get no alarms. They said it ran perfectly in the test tank and couldn't find anything wrong during the normal tests and computer diagnosis.  Before I brought it to them, I drained the tank, added fresh fuel and changed the fuel filter on the motor.  There's no inline filter.  Ater that, it still did the same thing.  They said the fuel lines are fine, no restrictions.  IMHO, it's probably the ethanol messing with the engine management system.  They told me there was no additive that they would recommend but I'm willing to give the Stabil stuff a try if they can figure out what's wrong.

They are wrong Sta-Bill ethanol treatment is fairly new and you can get it at NAPA, if that doesnt help try Sea Foam otherwise take it somewhere else and let them look at it

If they cant figure it out contact Mercury Marine Customer service and complain, I just talked to a guy that fishes with us in southpascobassmasters and he owns c.c. marine and he said that he very rarely runs into any problems with those motors and to call customer service and see what they can do for you, push for a new motor if the problem persists and nothing is found wrong.

The first hurdle seems to be having them experience the problem.   I can't believe they ran it in the test tank for very long if it never acted up.   If they come off the lake with it and tell me it ran fine, I'll just give up with them and take it to Hoppy's Marine in Haines City, they have a lake right behind the shop.  I probably should have taken it their first.

If engine repair was my bread-and-butter, I wouldn't recommend Sta-Bil either. ;D

I'm now running a 4-stroke outboard motor, so instead of faithfully adding oil,

I now faithfully add "Sta-Bil" as though it were oil (1oz per 2.5 gal)

You never know when your boat may be decommissioned or laid up,

and if there's no stabilizer in the fuel, it's going to gum up eventually.

It's my understanding that stabilizer used to be a regular additive in gasoline,

but has since been excluded. This behooves the boat owner to add it back.

It's the other way around...Buggy whips is slang for "bulrushes" (only one "L")

I lived on the shore of Lake Walk-In-Water for several years. In many central Florida lakes

such as the Stick Marsh and Walk-In-Water, "hydrilla" has been torn out by the root system

by the hurricane-trio of 2004. In Lake Walk-In-Water, when you're fishing in water

over a yard deep, bulrushes aren't the best thing, they're the only thing. ;)

I was out ther in march and hydrilla is present again and we caught many fish on traps out of it. It was torn out but some did survive to grow again.
