Editing Videos ( Any Help )

Featured Replies

I have about 20 to 30 videos that we have filmed over the years. Some are the VHS and some are the small 8mm. I was thinking about finding someone who could edit these tapes and put them on DVD and maybe add some audio to them. Has anyone ever had this done and

any idea what something like this would cost and who would you get to do it.

Yep ... I did it for my grandmother for Christmas.  I put all her 8mm tapes on to DVD organized chronologically the best I could.

If you have the patience it's really not too difficult to do.  You just have to buy a "Capture" device (I think that's what is called)

Yep, KU is correct.  If you have a newer camera, say a mini-DV cam, its really easy.  Then when you get it onto your mini DV you can just hook it up to your cpu and edit in, say windows movie maker or any other program.  The longest part is getting your old analog tapes converted to digital, once that is done its easy and you can do what ever you want to them.  I work for the college here in milwaukee at the media center on campus and have to do this for grad students all the time.  If you need any help or have any questions just drop me a message. ;)

I have acouple of old VCR and DVD recorder that I got for Christmas a few years ago. Can I do it with them?

Yes you can do it with those.  You can hook up your VCR out put to your DVD Recorder Input, and do it that way....The only problem is its tricky to edit it then, very tricky.  If you only want to transfer vhs to dvd without editing this is the way to go.  Put them on a DVD-RW if your player excepts them.
