.22 LR ammo

Featured Replies

Anybody have a suggestion for a good .22 LR ammo? I'm going rabbit hunting with my father-in-law and I'll have to use an old Winchester 109 that I have.

I have good success with CCI ammo.  Seem to be pretty consistent.

The Federal 550 round value packs contain quality ammo.  A bit on the dirty side, but consistant.

I haven't shot my .22 in quite a while but I seem to recall a particular brand (Remington?) of LR's that had a tendency to jam more often.  Federal and CCI have always been good.

CCI MiniMag  ;)

If you plan to eat the rabbits I would recommend Remington Thunderbolt .22LR ammo. They are very consistent in regards to accuracy and they won't break your bank. I have shot them in a multitude of 22 guns and never have had any problems.

CCI Stingers will wreck a small game animal.

Have fun,

Tom

I've always depended on Remington or CCI for quality, and consistency with  my .22LR ammo.

Agreed with CCI ammo.  Check out CCI green tag.  It's a standard velocity 22 made for competition shooting, but is very accurate and consistent.  Green tag isn't cheap, I think by now probably $10 p/100, but it's all I use aside from plinking.  No fliers with this stuff.

I have to agree with the majority and say CCI.  I actually just got back from the farm for Christmas and we shot 400-500 rounds of CCI through various 22's and no misfires or jams at all.
