Jig and Pig work anywhere?

Featured Replies

I was wondering what people know about using jig and pigs in lakes with no crawfish.  I've heard great things about jig and pigs but i've never tried em because of the simple fact that the lakes where i fish don't have crawfish.

Fish have no reasoning power.  If it moves they eat it.  Give the jig and any kind of trailer a try.

My sentiments exactly! All bass, did I say all bass, if I didn't say all bass I meant to say all bass will fall for the irresistible, delightful and subtle qualities of the Jig'n'Pig. In fact, I gotta go fishin', see yall later.

And sometimes even if it DOESN'T move they STILL eat it!!!

The local ponds I fish really don't have many crawdads.. I'll see maybe 1 a year if any at all. The jig works amazing for me, put the time in to learn it by fishing it, you won't be sorry. Wether theres crawdads or not in the water your fishing the jig will work.. I guarantee it.

If you don't see crawfish it doesn't mean they are not there !!!

There are lots and lots of species of crawfish spread preaty much all over the country; some prefer rocks, some clay banks, some live in weeds; some live shallow some go deep. Check with your local natural resource department, they should be able to bring light on this issue.

And by the way, J&P works everywhere...

I've heard white jigs can be pretty effective too, if you don't want to go for any crawdad-imitating colors.

If there wasn't any crawfish in the water then they would be a delicacy to the fish. Which as I understand it, they are anyway!

Most of my jigs are sunfish colored and tipped with matching, action trailers.  Just because a jig can be a craw imitator, doesn't mean it has to.  I rarely use craw colors on jigs.

That's surprising, I'll have to give it a try!
