Not Apatow's best effort.  Good/bad ratio was in the neighborhood of 40/60.  For reference, T40YOV was around 90/10 and Knocked Up was around 75/25.

Rogen is getting a little overexposed.  Perhaps it's just the Apatow influence and writing, but Rogen's character was very much like the one he played in Knocked Up.

I'm sure it will grow on me after more viewings, but my initial impression wasn't all that favorable.  Sandler, Schwartzman and Bana were all great.

I'll still probably spend the 15 dollars to see. Thanks for the heads up, if I go in with lowered expectations, I might not be so disappointed.

All of Rogens Characters are pretty much the same I didn't expect anything different in this.  Of course that is what people watch Rogen movies for.

I look for and expect good things from Sandler in his movies.   I don't know how he got so far away from the idiotic crap on his albums.

I wasn't really disappointed.  I enjoyed it for what it was.  It just isn't your typical comedy.  

I really enjoy Sandler in serious roles.  This one was similar to Punchdrunk Love, Click, or Spanglish.  Peppered with laughs.

If you're going in expecting The Waterboy or Pineapple Express, you're going to be extremely disappointed.  

A lot of comedies are like that these days-where you have to watch them 4 or 5 times before they become really funny (especially new Will Ferrell stuff)...that kinda gets old. I don't have time for that anymore. I laughed at the hangover from the second i walked in until 2 days after it was over--thats the kind of comedy i need!

It's easy to get cheap laughs.

If you're going in expecting The Waterboy or Pineapple Express, you're going to be extremely disappointed.

Waterboy was great,  I was extremely dissapointed with Pineapple Express seeing it the first time I dang sure don't want to see it again under another name.  

You guy's need to stay on the water or in the woods and let the TV sets go. ::)It's bad enough to be on the PC wasting time but at least we can communicate with the PC. Well the TV is something else, you can't communicate with it. It doesn't have a brain. ;D

Pineapple Express takes 2-3 viewings to really appreciate.

I plan on seeing it sometime. I liked Sandler's comedy movies as well as the more serious ones ie: Spanglish. I also like most of Apatow's stuff a lot.

There are several actors/directors who I follow religiously.  Apatow and Sandler are among those.

Rogen was funny at first, but now his act is getting old, in my opinion. His humor is almost always in some way related to smoking pot, which is only good for cheap laughs. It's not quality humor.

I haven't seen Funny People, but the previews looked good. Pineapple Express disappointed me, probably at least in part because I had heard such rave reviews beforehand.
