AT&T Buys T-Mobile

Recommended Posts

I can only see suck from this. AT&T sucks, and they're buying up one of the carriers that didn't suck, and actually provided great customer service and pricing.

The worst part, AT&T probably won't carry on T-Mobile's tradition of using hotties for the TV spots.... :(... ;)

I am with T-Mobile, and called their customer service. They told me my rates will increase when my contract expires in 2 months, so it will be inline with the AT&T....

They will have a lot of hurdles to get over with the feds before this is official. One of the major issues with cell phone service in the US is lack of competition, this deal makes it far worse.

I'll be surprised if this is allowed to go through. The FCC is going to shut this down. Not only do you have to think about Telecommunication competition, this is going to make only 1 GSM provider in the US and I don't think they will allow that. Dish Network and Directv tried to merge a few years ago and the FCC stopped that late into the deal.

No this was up first. I don't really like the new t-mobile girl, too elf looking and some steak and potatoes wouldn't hurt.

I have nothing to add or really care but heard this joke and thought it was funny.

AT&T and T-Mobile are getting married.  There will be no reception.

I don't think it will go through. they will have 74% of cell phone contracts in the US

Not true..According to my source that came through my phone, if the deal goes through the new AT&T with T-Mobile along with Verizon, they combine will hold 79% of the wireless market. Sprint and everybody else will have the rest. Sprint is putting in a plan to block the merger on this basis and claiming it will "stunt innovation."

Lack of competition=prices soar. I have AT&T and I actually like it. I'm eligible for an upgrade and got a Blackberry, not realizing that it has a mandatory data plan. My mom won't pay for one. Blows.

Now that's a good one!  Had AT&T and drop calls all the time.  My buddy had T-Mobile and had the same problems.  I am not the biggest fan of Verizon, but it is the only carrier I actually get consistent reception with in my area.

I second that T Mobile will suffer in quality from this,  I had Cingular before it was acquired by ATT and after I dropped calls and had horrible issues with reception, especially when traveling SW of Atlanta, GA.

Never had a single drop call in the last 6 years with at&t....Sprint/Nextel, well that's a whole different banana.

The Iphone has single handedly saved ATT and also has caused alot of their bad rep. Over the past 4-5 years more people have constantly streamed pandora and other heavy data streaming apps on their phones than other carriers and it caused problems on the ATT network. Thats why carriers have scrambled to limit data packages. The Tmobile sites will really help handle more volume.

Verizon's network is worth watching as more and more people use smart phones (and more data) on their network. Both ATT and VZ are very aggressively spending money to improve.
