Merrymeeting River - Salmon

Featured Replies

Heading up to Merrymeeting River on Monday in hopes to catch some spawning salmon. Any suggestions, tips, advice? I've only fished this river once (for bass) so I'm unsure of how far out of Winni. the salmon will travel.

                       Much thanks in advance.

we catch a fair bit on flies such as eggsucking leeches, egg patterns, and wooly worms and wooly buggers.

Also u might want to try a spawn sack.

Thanks. I will definately be trying the flies. I have no clue on finding fish eggs. I can make the sack but where would I get fish eggs?

well check your local tackle stores and they might have them some times they come in the same little jars pork rind baits come in

just ask someone there

if all else fails catch a female with one of your flies and see if you can squeeze some eggs out ... if u cant and your willing to eat the salmon... you can take the eggs out when u fillet it.
