phosphor glow in Indian/Bannana river?

Featured Replies

Has anyone here experienced the phosphor glow in the idian/bannana river at night?  Was out last weekend late and it was just plain spooky!

Oh yeah .It's cool no doubt.  Bio-luminescence causing blue trails from any movement in the water at night. It has to be seen to be believed.  I used to wonder if it was caused by too much rocket fuel in the water , but I guess it is a natural phenomenon. Have you caught a fish in it yet?   It is wild when a good fish is thrashing about. It could make one suspect he was having a flashback. :D

yeah thats a product of tiny dinoflagellates. (marine course this summer lol)

im always out in titusville during the day to do my wade fishing(something about wade fishing the indian river at night creeps me out, eh.....im not the food!!!! ;)) .......

so havent seen that phenomenone yet,

sure its quite the sight though!

I've seen it in the Chesapeake Bay when fishing at night. It's amazing just how bright it can get. Not only that, it doesn't dim quickly. I believe the anecdotal stories I've heard of World War II naval pilots following those trails back to their aircraft carriers.

When we headed back in the glow from the prop thrust was amazing.  It left at leat a 20 ft long trail behind the boat.  Next time I am gonna take pictures.
