trout tournrment tips

Featured Replies

I am attending a trout tournament in April anyone have any tips on cathing stalked trout. I have used power bait with small hooks and 4lb test line also used trout worms can anybody tell me if there is a better way.

white roostertails or panther martins and blue fox.

I hate that I know this...lol...but I use to do a lot of trout fishing, especially for stocked trout.

Get a long rod say 8-10 foot use light line 4-6lb fluorocarbon will work well also.

Now get some 1/16 1/32 1/64 ounce jigs black with white eye works good tip it with one or two maggots then get a weighted bobber put anywhere from 4-8 foot above and cast it out.

Now keeping rod tip up jiggle the tip lightly while reeling in very slow, when the bobber goes backwards set the hook. It will not go under all the time it will just kind of stop or go in reverse.

You will catch trout and big ones with this method. Good luck!

Cast master's(either silver or gold), and fly on a bubble works really well. Gulp alive and salmon eggs work as well.
