Very Dirty Water

Featured Replies

What color tackle should I use for very merky water?

Visibility down is about 5 inches ( :-? ) Color of water is greenish brown.

Black-N-Blue or Black-N-Chartreuse  :P

Anything dark and opaque for soft plastics.  I find that gold reflections work better than silver on spinnerbaits and crankbaits...

Black Colorodo (large) bladed spinnerbaits, darker crawfish and or green/black cranks

If you have a lake that is usually clear or murky and one day it gets muddy the bass that are shallow will usually put their nose up aganst something so they can keep their position. When this happens I like to take a dark jig and drop it down beside a stump or a log and let it sit for at least 20 seconds before moving it.

That's what I did on this day. You can just barely see the top of the stump under the water.

i fish a farm pond with terrible visibility, and i do very well with shad colored rapala DT 3's and 4's.

the way i see it, i am matching the hatch. there are shad (or some kind of silver minnow) in the pond, so why not use some kind of silver bait? the fish still have to eat whats there regardless of water visivility, so i just try to go with colors that match the forage.

one thing i will say is that i feel that a high pitched rattle (like the DT rattles) does help the fish locate the bait. a wide wobble helps too.

DT FAT 03 is a great bait for shallow muddy water! its got the wide wobble, and the high pitched rattles.

Here's my tackle box

Why do you keep loose plastic baits in a tackle box ? Keep all your plastic  baits in their original packages.

polish up the blades on that spinnerbait and fish that

fish that bill dance series bomber to the left (if your water is deep enough)
