30+ lb sacks at PAA Lake Fork Tourney in less than 4 hours of fishing!

Recommended Posts

Below's a link to everyone's sacks from today at the PAA Toyota Texas Bass Classic on Lake Fork:

Note that 2 pros are paired to a boat, and they have 4 hours from take off until check in to catch 5 keepers each.  Figuring 15 minutes of run time each way, that's 3.5 hours of fishing time to get 2 limits.  Not much, but the guys that are on them put up big bags in tough post front conditions with 30+ mph North winds and bluebird skies.

Here are some highlights:

Aaron Martens 5 fish for 30.25 lbs

Bobby Lane: 5 for 35, including an 11-12 and 9-04

And taking the prize for REALLY being on the fish:

Mike McClelland and Dave Wolak in the same boat: 29 lbs and 30.25 lbs!!

After a slow start to the week, things heated up on Fork as the temps came up.  My customer had an 8-5 on Tuesday and another customer had an 8-6 on Wednesday with a Zebco 33 (he had another of the same size on, but his drag starting giving out, then it snapped his Rhino rod and tangled in a tree while hand lining it in, after several jumps!).    Yesterday before the front, they bit better and better every hour up until dark and it was a fantastic day, despite 30+ south winds.  Today they bit in the first couple of hours, then my bite died as the sun came out, making for a slow morning 1/2 day trip and only 7 bass.  Looking at the results, it looks like the afternoon sun produced some better catches in the PM.

I'll be at the Lake Fork Tackle and Ranger Boats/Diamond Sports Marine booth tomorrow.  Stop by and say hi if you're attending.
