Flw vs bassmasterclassic

Featured Replies

What is the true difference is the bassmaster classic more elite or vise versa or are there just different sponsors?

What? :-?

I think he is asking which organization is more elite... Personally, I like both series. I think FLW is more... I don't know... non fishing friendly? (you have sponsors like Kellogg's, Fribeeze, etc...).

Is one better than the other in terms of talent? I don't think so, but being a Bassmaster Elite angler is what everyone seems to want to be, so Bassmasters gets my vote! I'd fish either though if I had the chance :P

BASS and FLW are two different bass fishing tournament organizations.

BASS has several regular season events known as the "Elite Series." Then, they have a championship called the "Bassmaster Classic."

FLW has several regular season events and a championship as well.

The anglers on both tours are amazing. As far as sponsorships go, the individual anglers are sponsored by a lot of the same people (Triton boats and Mercury outboards for example). But, BASS and FLW have different sponsors for their tours.

If you want to find out more go to bassmaster.com and flwoutdoors.com.

I think BASS has the biggest # of true Elite level anglers.

I don't think that's too hard to believe.

I believe theres a little more name recognition or prestige for BASS as compared to FLW.  It sure would be nice to be good enough to be able to compete in either series.

I have had the opportunity to fish with and get to know several of the top pros on both circuits. All of them are capable of competing on either circuit, and several have fished both sides. They have told me the main reason they are fishing BASS or FLW is decided by which one they feel they can build a better portfolio of sponsors. FLW is not as prestigious as BASS Elite Series but you would be surprised how much money they can actually make by fishing the FLW, and what they call a lot less "Hollywood".

HUH?

Same as Nascar with Tide and all the other out of senario sponsers. Makes perfect sense to go out of the industry to acquire them. Only so many fishing company dollars to go around.

When you grow up , you'll better understand what's going on around you.

The big thing is that we do have two major tours. That creates competition, just look at the prize money increases since the first FLW Cup (1996 $18,000.00) now the cup is $500,000.00+ (and was a cool million before the recession)

A pro angler I know told me if you want to make money fish FLW if you want to be famous fish BASS.

Obviously you can make money on both tours, but he has a point about the notoriety at BASS.

Kind of off topic but...I still don't know why they don't take the top 25 from the Classic and the top 25 from The Cup and have a tourney.  Between BASS and FLW they should have enought sponsorship dollars to have a no entry fee "battle of the tours" and I think the fans would really get into it.

That is a cool idea.  I guess it could happen but the closest thing to that right now is Ultimate Match fishing.  To tell you the truth, I like watching Ultimate Match Fishing more than the elite series.  I love the competiion of it.  It does show you the reason why the Elite series got rid of the co-anglers.  IMO good choice.

You beat me to the punch.  Excellent idea.

I agree, that is a good idea.  You would think it would help both organizations.  It might bring in some new sponsors that are not involved with either right now.

Are there any conflicting rules between the two?  Kind of like the DH in baseball?

The PAA tournaments are about as close as we'll ever get to a 'showdown' type of tournament between the 2 tours but not everyone is fishing the PAA.
