Finally on something

Featured Replies

I went out and prefished for a tournament saturday on one of my "arch enemy" bodies of water, the pmaunkey river. I call it that because in the many times I have fished it in the past 5 months I haven't caught a thing, nothing. So I wasn't expecting much. We launched out of Williams Landing and headed downriver to a creek I had gotten a few bites before. My dad got a strike right off the bat on a Bagley crankbait but lost it right at the boat. Minutes later he hooked up to a feisty 2lber. and swung him in, then the very next cast he boated a 1.5lber. I was awed by this and just though, "oh my God...we're catching fish!!!". We left that creek and headed upriver to find a few more spots for the tourney. We stopped at some old dock pilings and I caught a nice 2lber. on my first cast with a shallow diving cb, then my dad got another chunky 1lber, I ended the day with another nice 1.5lber. We would have stayed longer if it wasn't for the insane wind, driving our 17ft. Basstracker felt like trying to drive a bus in a hurricane, and when there's 3 foot sweels and whitecaps on a little tidal river you know its time to leave  :o :o
