A Chip Off The Old Block

Featured Replies

Tonight was on of my proudest nights ever, and will probably make me the laughing stock of all my friends.  My son is four years old and he has already caught the "bug", and believe me he has it bad.  I'm a traveling sales rep and my hour are anything but consistent so I am not usually the one that gets to pick him up in the evenings, but the days I do as soon as I walk in its "daddy are going fishing" if she picks him up its "is daddy gonna take me fishing tonight".  Well the nights I get to take him fishing I will usually stop by Walmart and let him pick out a new lure (or two if I'm sure she wont find out teach him bout the monkey early).  This afternoon he walked down the isle looking all around and finally walked over to a 1/4 oz black and blue jig.  I cringed.  (I'm still not healed up from the Rapala a few weeks ago).  Tonight was a special occasion because Momma also came along. (one more pole to untangle).  We hit the lake about 2 hours before sundown since the trips always need to be short with him.  I tied his new jig to his line after I pried it out of his hand. Its so funny he will not let the cashier even put his baits in the bag he has to hold his new prized lure. I put a pork trailer on it and told him to cast and retrieve slow.  Why not teach him right.  I have been working to increase the range of baits I throw so I spent tonight working with a couple new cranks, a new top water, and a flipping tube.  Well we had been fishing all evening and it was getting close to dark.  I said a few more casts and we are going.......... Splash Splash I look up my sons little noodle rod is doubled over.  He drops his rod and runs to the back of the boat with his mommy.  I reach down pick up his rod and reel is his keeper bass.  I unhook it and he wont come near the fish so I throw it back. (wish I could have got a picture, but he was terrified)  Well you know that a few more casts goes from a few to a bunch more when you are being out fished by a 4 year old.  I keep looking back at momma and she is grinning ear to ear.  She sees that I am working hard to try to at least catch one fish.  Well it gets dark and I take us back to the launch and trailer the boat.  We get ready to leave and I tell Logan I'm proud of him and that I love him lots.  We arent a mile down the road and I hear "boy I cant wait to tell everyone you got out fished by a four year old"  That finalizes it momma is banned from the boat.

cute story sounds like a great time was had by all :)

I agree ... if Momma is gonna throw you under the bus, then I would leave her at home !!!

That finalizes it momma is banned from the boat.

It's nice to dream.
