I have used them.  And yes, they worked for me.   ;D

If you have the instructions on how to rig the system together, then, that's half the battle.  However, you can fish them in the same areas that you fish other rigs.

The frogs are especially effective around weeds.  I had the most success with it when Lake Weiss flooded, a couple of years ago, when the remains of a hurricane came through and dropped 10 inches of rain.

The debris that were stacked against the banks had all been blown on the west side of the lake, making it hard to fish.  However, if you would throw the frog or the minnow on top of the debris, and then, drop it off the side, where it came in contact with open water, some HUGE bass would come up and slam them.

I caught several bass around 4 lbs., a couple that were 5 lbs. and one that was pushing 6 lbs.

The best advice with any lure that you have not fished before is to just experiment.  Fish it in places that seem like ulikely spots, as well as likely spots.   ;D

They looked good but I never caught a fish on them. I really just never gave them a chance though, I am sure they do catch fish.

I'm sure they work, but I just have this rule about never buying anything from an infomercial.

Banjo minnows do work.  They are absolutely amazing.  I am very catious about buying anything from a tv infomercial.  I started with these a long time ago when they came out.  They really taught me a thing or two about how bass react to injured baitfish.  They are just one of the best lures I have used.  You use them the same was as you would a fluke or a sluggo.  Try them.  They are worth the money.  The only problem is that the rigging system is a hassle.

Flukes are the same idea but I guarantee they have a different action in the water.  BM's work better in some situations and flukes may work better in others.  Just the little details.

Yeah, the actions are completely different.  While the fluke has a rounder body, the BM has a flat body.  Therefore, aeronautical flutter comes into play, and it makes the whole body move, not just the head.

Someone mentioned that they would not buy the BM due to the cost of it.  If they are still making them, you enter a tournament, and it's a 3 day event, I guarantee you that if the top anglers are fishing with the BM, and are catching stringers that are 35 lbs., I bet that you will find the nearest outlet to find them.

When it comes to placing high in the standings, and placing in the money, there is not expense that is too great.   8)

The banjo minnow works, but the greatest flaw to the bait is that it is a soft jerkbait and as all fisherman that use soft jerkbaits know is that they dont last very long at all. They have a shorter life than a soft plastic worm. :(

That is not exactly true.  I have had one Banjo Minnow last for 7 different fishing trips, before it was destroyed.  And during those 7 fishing trips, I caught 20 fish/day on the BM.

I do not use them anymore, due to the fact that the rigging system is too much work.   ;D
