Just wanted to know what everybodies favorite bass to catch is, and why. Mine is pry the smallmouth, they give up a great fight, and are energetic. They seem to be a little harder to catch than the largemouth bass.

smallies. Simply they are scrappier, and definatley a lot less common for where i fish. They just seem like something new and exciting

smallmouth/spot because they don't mess around with a lure. They are either on or not. (I find them easier to catch myself)

I love those smallies.  They are unbelievable fighter.  They don't know what die means.  They just don't stop.  

I've never caught a peacock bass but from everything I have read they are the ultimate.  I voted for smallies though.  Gorgeous fish that know how to fight.

As my grandson says "Smallies rule , all others drool."

Went with the largemouth here! Even though the Potomac is basically in my back yard, I really prefer chasing those green beauties!

I prefer Largemouth, heck I rarely ever fish for smallmouth, even thouh there are great smallmouth waters near me (Lake Erie, Finger Lakes)

I love the fight in the Smallies. No matter what size, it almost always feels like a whale.

There are very few smallmouth in our local resevoir, Largemouth are the typical catch.  But if I had my druthers it would be smallmouth.  I just caught a 5lbr over the week-end (smallmouth).

What if the genetics department could grow Smallmouth as big as Striped Bass?

I'm looking forward to catching my first spotted bass here on Bull Shoals as I hear they put up a good fight.  

One thing I have wondered about is since Striped Bass (primarily a saltwater fish) have become more popular why no one has tried stocking Redfish, Red Drum, Red Channel Bass or what ever regional name they go by for larger bait control. Redfish can live in freshwater but can only breed in saltwater so their numbers could be controlled similar to how Striped Bass are (where introduced but can't breed). I don't advocate such stockings I'm just musing as I sit at my keyboard past midnight waiting to get sleepy.

I've caught stripers to 44 pounds, and those under 37 lbs I have found to be disappointing.

I have never caught a peacock bass, but from all I've read and seen,

they'd probably take any black bass under the bleachers.

I can count on one hand how many smallies I have caught and yeah they put up a great fight, but in my book there is nothing like making the perfect pitch between two laydowns in a pocket in the grass and pulling out a big ol' bucketmouth.

So smallies are more fun to catch and largemouths are more fun to fish for IMO.

i voted peacocks because it's my dream to one day go fishing in south america for them and catch a 20 plus pounder.those things are nuts!!!

I voted for Striped Bass. In the Chesapeake thats the name of the game. I love going into the rivers and catching Large Mouth, but you never know how big a Rockfish will be, It could wiegh over 60lbs, A large Mouth isn,t usually going to be over 10lbs.

I prefer the Largemouth bass,hands down!

I chose Stripers, myself.  There's nothing better in my mind than catching a 20lb fish on ultra-light tackle.  When the bays around here warm up I love to spend the last 2 hours of daylight tossing poppers into the flats and getting attacked by a nice schoolie.  Tough choices, though...IMO they're all great to catch!

I voted largemouth cause most of my local lakes have mainly them. Smallmouths are a blast though. I definitly want to go peacock fishin sometime too.

I voted Largemouth mostly because that is what I am catching here in the Carolinas. I have to admit that I really have no favorite. I love catching 'em all. Small mouths do have a bit more attitude though.

i cant beleive i was the only one to vote for spotted bass! :-/ oh well they are still my favorite to catch.

i voted for greenfish   but the brown ones are a close second
