Auto inflating life jackets ?

Featured Replies

How many of you put one of these on at the ramp, and take it off only at the end of the day, back safely at the ramp ? I sure do.

I bought a So-Spenders auto-inflating life jacket about 3 years ago, and just loved it. One day, (not while I was wearing it) it unexpectedly deployed. I bought a recharge kit, which didn't work.... and it deployed again, wasting the kit :-(  So I figured since the thing was 3 years old, and sweat stained anyway, I'd just buy a new one.

I have to say, in the 3 weeks without an auto life jacket, I sure found out how much I would miss one ! What a pain, taking an old-school life jacket on and off at every single stop !

Anyway, some people are apparently just not that worried about drowning..... but hey, if thats the case, maybe they could still buy a pair or two of these auto-inflating life jackets for friends and / or family.

Not trying to sell any products or brands here.... any brand would be better that none at all.

Safe boating to all,

I do that. Mine is so comfortable I've got in the truck with it on ready to drive home. It isn't comfortable there :)  No PFD does yu good packed away or under your feet. Usually, when they are needed and not being worn, the PFD goes to the wrong side of the boat from you, or is pinned in a compartment under hundreds of pounds of water pressure. They are for ACCIDENTS. Thinking about wearing one during an accident isn't a wise practice, like not wearing a seat belt while the truck is rolling over.

Mine is not self inflating but wish I had spared the extra money for that feature. I find I forget to take it off when I stop so I quit removing it and found it has never gotten in the way and it is good to have on in the fish photos. They don't take up valuable storage space and I would recommend them to everyone.
