Im sure I will never need to know this but I was just wondering what is the proper or best procedure for reporting a fish that might be a state record breaker. Who do you contact? What proof or documentation needs to be gathered.

A US post office  can be used to verify  the weight of the fish and usally u have planty of witnesses there myabe lucky if DNR is checkin thier mail at the same time to identify the fish also  OR if ur lucky the IGFA might have a  mom and pop store /business thats involved with them close by

i would think it would vary state by state, so check your DNR or DGIF
