Trying new lake

Featured Replies

Hey folks, I havent posted in some time but I check in with this site daily, its awesome.

I'm trying a new lake tomorrow near Mogadore Res. in Ohio. It is a lake next to the res. seperated by a road. It is packed with grass and lillypads. Not sure of the acreage. I do know it doesnt reach 10 feet deep at its deepest point. I have been pretty disgruntled with my fishing results this year. I'm going out by myself and would just appreciate a few pointers and some ideas on what to try. I am running out of ideas and really don't trust my own judgement anymore. I read posts of people catching 10 or 20 bass in a day. It proves to me that I don't seem to know what I'm doing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Weather is gonna be scattered T-storms low 80's, 10-20 mph winds.

Thanks so much.

Probably the hottest new lure for a lot of our members is the

Rage Tail Shad. The cover you describe is the perfect

scenario for this lure:

Then too, you gotta be throwing a frog!

Additionally, I would work the edges early with a Cavitron

buzzbait. As the day progresses, back to the ole reliables:

GYCB 5" Senko and Fat Ika.

To target bigger bass, the Rage Tail Anaconda is red hot! The Lobster

as a jig trailer or on an Evolution Shak-e2 jig head has been working,

too.

Another suggestion is fishing right in the grass/weeds/pads with the

GYCB Kut Tail, weightless and weedless. I prefer the 6 1/2" Khuna for

a bigger presentation.

Good luck!

Thanks alot for your response.

I am stopping at gander mountain this afternoon anyway. I'm gonna have to get some of what you were talking about. I do have most of that stuff. Another frog or 2 and some rage tails couldn't hurt. Like most of you folks I have a bit of an addiction to tackle.

Thanks again

Just reading what that wind is going to be is making me angry, and I'm not even going with you. I HATE STRONG WINDS when I am trying to fish.As far as baits go, a few come to mind. First is one that I am not a fan of but is a good choice,is a frog around the pads or spook or pop r on the edges. Second is a spinnerbait I preffer double colorado. A jig or pegged Tx rig plastic for the grass. And last but definatly not least a senko type tx rigged weightless.
