Schooling bass

Featured Replies

There is a lake in NJ that I fish on a normal basis that has fairly clear water. I have noticed in the past few weeks that there are bass that seem to be cruising around in groups from 2 to 5 of them per school. They don't seem to want to eat (what I am throwing anyway), just cruising. It appears they are following the largest bass where ever it goes. Is this unusual for bass. I know that at times bass will congragate in an area and suspend / feed but not follow what appears to be a leader. Can anyone explaine this to me?

usually i find them doing this when they eat shad.  has the water started receding? usually when water drops it pushes them out and they tend to roam.  try anything that imitates shad or what they are feeding on.  most of the time it is timing with them when they act like that dont get frustrated they will turn on.
