Erie smallmouth this spring!

Featured Replies

Just wondering how many people were planning on fishing Erie this spring, and when. I'd love to fish with some of you and learn/teach each other about Erie.

76 days and counting....

Just say when :)

Well I plan on it as well, but I am in the Buffalo area.

Buffalo is ok with me to, I can be there in under 2 hours ::)

We could always meet half way, Dunkirk or Barcelona? After that we could head South and hit Chautauqua for a day.

Man, Spring needs to hurry up  ;D

I'm shore bound but I plan on hitting Erie down at Sunset Bay breakwall and Sturgeon Point this year. Didn't get a chance last year and I only live 20 minutes away from the Lake.

All my experience is Sandusky, Detroit River Areas, but I want to try over east too, the bassmaster event they had there this past year was sick! I'm getting a new map chip for GPS and really want to try it out up there. Maybe sometime this spring if you want to meet me a little ways, we could go out.

Wouldn't mind that at all. Don't have experience on the Lake while boating though. But have had some nice footballs coming out of the tributaries that flow into Erie.

Unfortunately I didn't have the camera when I caught my PB this past year so I'm stuck with a smaller smallie in my avatar. Still they are fun to catch no matter the size.

Can't wait for spring myself. I go to Erie a bunch of times every year. I absolutely love fishing for the walleyes there! Go out a little beyond the mountain in the summer, and you might catch a steelhead or two while trolling.

As far as smallmouth fishing....what's to learn? That place is hands down, the easiest place to catch smallmouth that i know of....big ones too! Doesn't matter if it's a tube, senko, spinner, live bait, etc. You drag anything, over any type of rubble, from 15-35' of water, and you'll catch them, period.
