To all you old hats at the smallie thing. Have you ever noticed that on a bluebird nice day the fishin is not usually very good? I have noticed that smallies love those wind blowin, cold, snowing or raining sideways days. Know what I mean?,LOL.

Ha i know exactly what you mean. The last time i got into some really good smallie fishing it was 40 degrees out freezing cold, and pouring down rain. i had my snowboarding pants on and my and snowboarding jacket. but we were slamming them on spinnerbaits in shallow water at the very end of october.

that is how you know a winter day will be good when it is nasty out side. That will be a good FNF day for smallies.

Some of the best fishing days have been in the rain for me.

has much to do with fishing on the Tennessee River...Current rules!

today in TN qualified as crappy weather, and the smallmouth were very active, no doubt.  no giants, but several quality fish - spitting snow, ice, sleet, and sometimes rain - wind chills in the 20's due to 15-20mph winds... perfect smallie weather

Yes, bad weather is a general term but, I was looking back on all those guide days and it seems that many times when the weather was almost unbearable, we always seemed to have some great days. I guess they like you to have to work for them,lol.

Best smallie days for me have been in at least a 20 mph wind with temps in the 20's or low 30's.  If my guides are icing up its usually a sign that the fishing will be good and my hands will be freezing.    ;D
