I've started fishing a bigger soft plastic bait (brush hogs, sweet beavers, space monkey) on a shakey head (1/4 to 3/8 ounce).  I've used Luck e strike, Bass Pro, Strike King (football), and Spot Removers.

I had some problems with some of the smaller heads in getting the hook to pull through.  I lost several fish at the boat where the hook hadn't even come through the plastic.  

Haven't really messed around with these too much yet but I'm wanting to buy some more and looking for some good advice.  I've got some questions?

1. How do you prefer to attach the head of the plastic to the jig?  With a screw lock, run the hook through the plastic (like Strike King's Tour Grade shakey head), or with a ringed barb (Like the Buckeye Spot Remover)?  

2.  Has anyone found that one way in particular helps the hook come through easier?  

3.  Is there a head out there with a bigger bend in the hook - which would allow the plastic a little more room to move?

4.  Any specific brand of jig head that would work for bigger plastics like these?

Those ones in the pic above are the exact ones I use.  I think they're called Giggy heads.  I use them for flappin hogs, brush hogs, and yesterday I was slayin 'em with berkley chigger craws on those.

Here are some was of rigging larger baits on the Shak e2. I havent had any issues with the hooks coming through the plastics. Either weedless or exposed. The Shak E2 on the swimbaits have a very unique action because of the lip(fulcrum). I have been using them on the bed fishing technique-The nose down effect really ticks the bass off.  That beaver on the Shak E2 offers a smaller profile than on a full bodied jig. great for rock or bluff fishing-It is also great for flipping weeds and brush click on the http    http://www.redshad.com/4Lee/

This is a timely post for me, I just got 2 bags of the 10.5" Xcite baits trick worms in today and these things are huge.  It's a pretty thick piece of plastic and it looks like most shakey jigheads would not be large enough and have enough gap for this worm. Today I did a little research and it looks like the FinTech Magnum size title shot might work with a 8/0 EWG hook and possibly the 6/0 that Xcite offers.  By the way I stuck this worm in a bucket of water and this floats similiar to a Roboworm. Regarding the Megastrike I plan on trying a few of these as well, it looks real good wih the Beaver Bait.

I dont know how this might help you but there's a local guy that makes shakey heads with 4/0 EWG hooks. I like them quite a bit.
