Synthetic Oil

Featured Replies

Last year I changed my lower unit oil with a synthetic lower unit oil. My buddy advised me that once you use a synthetic oil you cant't go back to using a regular oil. Is there any truth to this?

Most manufactures label their product with recommendations on mixing of oils, but if you completely drain the lower unit and replace with dino oil, there should not be an issue. I use AMSOIL synthetic marine gear lube SAE 75W/80W-90 in my lower unit, what did you use?
