Trollinmotor Help!!!!

Featured Replies

just had my trolling motor rebuilt its a old johnson 24/12 the 24 switch works 12 works but same speed as 24 ? any info

I would start with the switch, look at that. I believe those motors were simple parallel that used rheostats. Just a suggestion. If you just "had" it rebuilt I would take it back to the person that did it and have them make it right.

I DID HE SAID IT WAS MY BOAT WIRING? VERY RUDE GUY TRUST ME.!

I have that exact TM. It came with the boat when I bought it. I keep telling myself I will replace it when it dies. The d**n thing is like the terminator, I can't break it. It is a 54lb thrust Johnson. All I do is replace the prop blade every so often.

You may have a bad switch. Mine screws out and can be replaced. The website listed above has all of the OMC parts for these motors. Really, there isn't muuch to them in contrast to the newer TMs.

I just bent the heck out of my shaft ( hehee I made a funny ) so I may finally be in the market for a new one.

Question: why do you use the 12 speed anyway? this will only give you less power and will unevenly wear your TM batteries
