Shimano makes quality reels, however this is one of there lower end offerings. You may want to consider a higher end second hand reel or a BPS PQ on sale. VBS is Shimano's centrifugal brake design.

I would highly recommend getting the PQ too, It would be the same price if you catch them on sale. It has both centrifugal and magnetic brakes, so you can use one or the other. I have it set with both on and hardly ever get a backlash.

Yea the pro qualifier is a great reel. I have the tournament edition and I love it. I use it for my cranks.

well personally i dont really like bps stuff. anyone have their opinons on this reel?
