King shad & wake shad

Featured Replies

watching a fishing show this morning the host was fishing the wake shad and the king shad for a while with good results. I know this may have been filmed for the whole day and condensed to the 20min or so show (not to mention he is probably getting $$$ to fish them) so I figure I ask you guys for your oppinion on those baits.

these lures are about $25 a piece, if I am going to buy a lure a that price I want to know they will produce.

thanks

I'm a big fan of the King Shad, they've put a lot of nice fish in the boat for me especially the Mojarra color. There are some people who have tried these and had them break at the joint, this has never happened to me and my understanding is that they have fixed this problem. I've used the Wake Shad a couple of times, still waiting for my first fish.

I have used the wake shad and plan on getting a few of the king shads and sexy swimmers. The wake shad is a great bait and will produce I use it early morning over submerged grass and at night running it slow.

mmm, I can think of a few places like that around here. I may just get me one after all.

Thanks man.

IMO, the King Shad is the biggest piece of garbage i ever used! It has no action whatsoever! The hooks are not very sharp and it will break apart if it hits even a tree limb! For $20 you could get a Spro BBZ-1 Shad that performs and looks a million times better! Just my piece though!

I bet it was Shaw Grigsby on Okeechobee right?  If so that was a pretty good episode.

I have a king shad and like it, the action isn't as great as other baits I have but I don't think it's quiet as fragile as mentioned, have had it hung a few times and threw it in a tree the other day, still kickin though

right, it was shawn G.

you said the action is not as good as other baits, which ones are those? is the action on the spro bbz-1 better then?

most of my crankbaits I own now are rapala with some Bomber I think as well, they are only like $7 tops, that is waht I was talking about when I asked if the king shad and wake shad are worth the $$, if it is just an overpriced lure and I can get a better action with something else even if it is at the same price I would not mind spending the $$, but paying big $$ for a subpar lure, I don't think i want to do that.

thanks guys for commenting.

now, what kind of rod would I need for this type of swimbaits, a MH? i dont currently have one yet, I only have M rods, would those swimbaits lures be too big for the rods I have?
