Strike King Rattlin' Midnight Special

Featured Replies

I went to pick up a few night fishing things yesterday and came across the Strike King Rattlin' Midnight Special spinnerbait. Anybody use this or have any advice on using it?

Save your money.  Not worth the effort.

get some black on black buzzbaits instead.

I've never had a problem with the Midnight Specials. The majority of the time, I prefer the sinlge colorado bladed version but I've done well on the double willowleaf model as well. IMO, its a great alernative when the bass want something a little more subtle but still near the top (at least that's where I like using it).

Kind of hard to fish a buzzbait on the bottom.   :;)

The problem with the Strike King bait referenced above is mainly the swivel.  It's a junk swivel and won't rotate half the time.

Such is the curse with buying just about any spinnerbait off the rack.  There are some decent baits on the market, but for the most part none of them are worth two farts in a bag.

Good point burly... Was just thinking of some other night fishing things for him.

The Midnight special will catch a few fish night fishing, but in my opinion there are better made spinnerbaits out there for this application. The Strikezone lure company Nite Bite spinnerbait has done real well for me. One of our fellow members whose moniker I can't remember turned me on to Rattlehead spinnerbaits, I tried them a couple of weeks back with great results.

I use heart spinnerbaits they had um at GM on clearance 1.97 and they seem to work good

maybe i should have saved my money but i bought one a while ago and just haven't used it yet.  any good during the day?

I have used the midnight special with success. But I also have caught a lot on the ones off of the $.99 rack at walmart. I just recently(yesterday) picked up a HART blackheart spinner. It looks really good and I can't wait to use it.
