Dead Stickin

Featured Replies

I have a few questions when it comes to dead stickin senkos:

- Does it work in shallow water for cruising fish

- Does it work in a grass bed on the bottom

- What season is the best time to dead stick

- Do you need to see the fish crusing in shallow water before you dead stick?

- Do you guys use scent when your dead sticking?

- Whats the deepest you will dead stick?

- Why does it seem like Dead sticking only works for Hybrids and Stripers?

- Would something that floats up, like a Elaztech Zero be better?

- Why does something with almost no movement appeal to bass?

- Is it important to have a color bait that stands out on the bottom when dead sticking

- yes it does work

- yes it does

- can´t say which is the best season, where I live we don´t have "seasons"

- no

- no

- I don´t have something like "the deepset" I will dead stick

- can´t tell you why for you it seems to work only for hybrids & stripers, I have never caught a hybrid or striper, we don´t have those down here, I dead stick for bass

- can´t tell if something that floats would be better

- I have no idea

- I don´t think it´s important

Yes it works, can't understand why anyone would care to fish that way unless you were hiding in the bushes with your girlfriend. and hoping to get lucky 2 times in one day.biggrin.gif

I've caught stripers in the ocean on tubes ( facsimile of an eel), probably would hit a plastic worm.

Does it work in shallow water for cruising fish - YES

Does it work in a grass bed on the bottom- YES

What season is the best time to dead stick - IN VIRGINIA WE USE IT IN COLD WATER

Do you need to see the fish crusing in shallow water before you dead stick? - NO

Do you guys use scent when your dead sticking?- ALWAYS

Whats the deepest you will dead stick? - 15 FEET

Why does it seem like Dead sticking only works for Hybrids and Stripers? - BECAUSE THEY ARE AROUND TO PICK UP YOUR BAIT

Would something that floats up, like a Elaztech Zero be better? - I THROW TRICK WORMS TO HAVE THEIR TAILS TOWARD THE SURFACE.

Why does something with almost no movement appeal to bass? - THEY ARE NOT ACTIVE AND THEY WILL STARE AT THE BAIT AND THEN DECIDE IT IS EDIBLE BEFORE STRIKING IT. MOVING BAITS MAY NOT BE WHAT THEY ARE SEEKING.

Is it important to have a color bait that stands out on the bottom when dead sticking - YES. COLOR IS ALWAYS IMPORTANT. BLEND IN THE COLOR WITH WHAT IS ON THE BOTTOM IF POSSIBLE. OTHERWISE, WATER CLARITY AND FORAGE DETERMINES THE COLORS TO USE. :)

To add to my post, a good friend and outstanding bass fisherman who passed away two years ago would use a Zoom Moccasin Blue Dead Ringer to Dead Stick.

He would throw the bait towards the shoreline, light a cigarette, and smoke the entire cigarette before he would move the bait.

Drove me nuts.

Time after time, he would catch a bass.

Go figure????? :D:D:D

P.S. Sorry to say he died of lung cancer. :(

I'm embarrassed to say I time my extremely slow presentations by the puff as well. blink.gif
