I was in the midst of the best swimn bait bite ive ever experienced this weekend, but was only landing about 20% of the fish that hit. Clear water, vicious strikes, but few hookups. I was using the large size magic shad with an owner 1/8ox weighted 5/0 swimbait hook. Even added a mustad triple grip treble trailer hook and still lost fish. Any suggestions, was using a MH fast action rod, slower softer rod may be necessary.

never had that problem though.  maybe try waiting to let them take it?

i have rigged that many different ways...even crossways nose hooked with hook exposed.

the action is incredible.
