Bullet Weight for Drop Shot

Featured Replies

I ran out of my drop shot weights while fishing so I did the best I could to substitute. I put a bullet weight on just like you would for texas rig, but tied just a sliver of rubber band at the bottom of the line. Then I had my hook up the line like usual. The weight could move freely between the hook and rubberband, but with enough pressure the weight would slip off and I wouldn't have to break the hook off as well. It seemed to work, but are their thoughts on how my modified rig would give the fish another advantage? I have been using 6-8 pound test.

I would say that the only problem i see is that the bullet weight might get caught more in rocks then a round drop shot weight but like you said if it does the weight will pop off the line.

I was thinking of using the bullsot weight by w. gremlin. It a crimp on weight.

I use a bullet wait with a bead tied to the end of my line.If I am going to lose something it may as well be a couple of pennies, not $3.dollars in what style of drop-shot weight I use. Some times I use a Bell sinker. And if I wanted to break off easy, I would Tye a leader line that was smaller then my main line.
