Spell Checker And Firefox Users, And New Update.

Featured Replies

I noticed awhile back that someone asked why the spell checker isn't working. They were pointed to the FAQ. But it only states that it is done automatically if you have FireFox.

Yet is was not working.

THIS IS WHAT TO DO TO MAKE IT WORK FOR YOU AGAIN.

Go to a reply box.

Before typing, right click your mouse.

At the very bottom of that box will be "Languages"

Mouse over "Languages", and another box will pop up.

This box will have two options

Click on "Add Dictionary"

This will take you to another tab, where you can download an English dictionary.

Once you are finished with that download, you must restart Firefox. Once it is restarted spellcheck will work with the red line under misspelled words just as before.

This is something you have to do, because your dictionary setting was disturbed with a recent Firefox update.

In fact, you may be able to just click here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/f...language-tools/

And that will take you strait to the download dictionary tab.

I didn't know the spell checker wasn't working. I clicked the above link and clicked install the dictionary, installed the add-on and was told that it would start working after Firefox was restarted. Didn't happen so I tried again with the same result. According to the Firefox add-on tab the spell check is enabled. Tried it a 3rd time and this time I restarted the computer, not just Firefox. Still doesn't work.

It doesn't highlight words that are spelled wrong in red?

You only need spell checker if you misspell words. Don't misspell ;). :)

I've experienced the same problmes with Firefox.. Tried the fix and it didn't work. We Mods have been talking about this for the last day or so. I suggested going back to IE. Francho poo-poo'd that idea. Then Fluke suggested Chrome. It's late, and I'm headed for the rack. I'll try Chrome tomorrow.

That's weird. It worked for me. I had to restart the computer though.

Maybe I misunderstood. It wasn't working as per my post above. Then I discovered it was working on other sites. Then I reread the first post, right-clicked and clicked something else and now it works here.

Jigfisherman, you were right on the money with the fix. I must have done something wrong the last time I tried the fix because I didn't get the menu option of Languages. It's now fixed. Thank you.
