Lake Okeechobee 1-31-2012

Featured Replies

Dan Kenney from Go Fish T.V. is down shooting some shows for his up coming season. He fished Lake kissimmee a few days ago and picked up a couple over 8#'s. Today he and I fished Lake Okeechobee. We were down in the Moore Haven area. The area had been hot for a few months and then went ice cold on the last few times out. I was hesitant to go back this morning but it worked out well. Here is one of the fish. This one was 7 3/4#'s and the other was 8#'s. All were caught on a JD'sCustomBaits frog.

Hawgs!

Great fish Capt. Shane. How was the wind that day?

it was stiff 14-16 out of the NE, but perfect for the area I was in.

Nice Bass. I need to pick up some more frogs. The one he gave me at Lox last year is torn to shreads.

Must be rough to be fishing in shorts and light shirts in January :laugh5: Very jealous of those bookend hogs.

Now imagine if conditions were ideal! Nice catch.

Those are some mighty fine largemouth, congrats on your catches

Nice fish there. The wind can be brutal there, as I found out when I fished there. Wind was about 20-30 mph and got real cold one day.

I have developed a Love and Hate relationship with Lake Okeechobee. I have been humbled a few times out there with perfect conditions and had huge days when I least expected it. Your right about the wind out there....
