To All My Memphis Pond Hoppers!

Recommended Posts

I got out on Friday and picked up 17 dinks at perisol in shelby forest.  Don't know if that pond holds any quality fish or not as it was my first time there.  The fish were very active aND chasing minnows up the creek and pushing them to the banks.  Hard to make a good presentation in 3" water.  Weightless fluke got lots of bites.

I’ve never been to Shelby Forest. It’s about 45 minutes from my house. Is it worth the drive? Are the ponds less pressured than anything I can fish in Gtown or Cville? Is it bank friendly? I’m pretty much at wit’s end fishing these ponds closer to my house, and need some new waters worth fishing.

I'm no expert, but I think once we get a little more consistent temperatures, we'll find that the fish are transitioning toward late Fall/Winter and start feeding up. The bite around this time last year was great, but temperatures were a bit warmer if I'm remembering correctly.

The bite has has been tough for just about everyone I've talked to at the ponds I frequent. I got a 3lb around 11am about a week ago just before we got some rain on a crankbait. Days before and after that, they haven't been very interested in anything I'm throwing.

Best of luck.

Thanks, maybe best then to save the vacation days just for a bit.

Never caught anything worth mentioning but I am available this weekend if you want to try one out in my yak.  Costs a little like 5 bucks.

A scavenger hunt of sorts. Don’t yell the spot here, just throw me a like if you know the spot. Gotta liven this thread somehow. :)

Here's a nice big one back in April, I didn't have a scale with me but this was a perfect time walking along the banks and seeing them protecting their bed. Hit them with a nice Shad like swim bait. I usually never catch anything out of this lake but I heard a lot of people go there for catfish. This is at APPLING LAKE in Bartlett.

Since the winter is finally here, I took a break from bass fishing and did some White bass fishing out at Sardis Lake Mississippi.

Here's a quick link to my youtube of catching loads of white bass, these things are so much fun to catch.

Nice. I still haven't yet to find some time and fish Johnson park. Last time I went the water was a bit low.

It’s pretty much my “home pond”. I work about 7 minutes from there, and live about 3 minutes away. So any chance I get, I’m out there. I really need to explore Bartlett and Cordova, as I’m usually at Neshoba on my off days. Any tips for ponds in either of those areas?

My work is about 2 minutes from Halle, but I rarely even think of going. Just never seems to be worth the time.

I’ve stopped with Grove since the middle school practices cross country out there now, so a hundred pounding feet around the banks can’t be good for the fishing.

Hey everyone, been lurking this thread a while and only just got something i felt was worth sharing. bass11.jpg.8a937d6716fa55863e706bf4bb673559.jpgbass22.jpg.f65ed9ac24d032f3114649c037b0fef9.jpg

Snagged him out of the front pond at Johnson park in Collierville - caught a few from here but this is by far the biggest. Really tough fishing around memphis for me lately, so this was a nice change of pace. Reading this thread has helped me find some good spots. I appreciate you guys' help!
