I have had a lot of success with throwing chrome/blue and chrome/black. 90% of the days it's sunny with clear water. And generally if the water is murky, I throw charteuse.

Can you guys recommend other color options that work well with cloudy, clear water. Or just give me some basics on when to use which colors. Thanks in advance.

PS- I'm fishing over vegetation, depth 1-12ft.

I've had alot success with chrome/black and chrome/blue in clear water, sunny OR cloudy. I'll sometimes change up to a chartreuse shad color, but I regularly find myself throwing chrome.

My best color is Chrome & Blue, but you gotta have Red, too!

Although I have had great luck with the XCalibur Xr50, the Red

Eyed Shad has taken it over by a large margin. If you are using

a steady retrive or ripping through grass, the XCalibur is fine, but

the forward dropping action of the Red Eyed Shad trumphs any

other brand using a yo-yo retrieve.

Ya you need some craw colors in your arsenal. Try to find out what the bass are eating where you fish. We have a lot of Golden Shiners here in Nor Cal so a lot of my baits are Gold/black/silver.

Y'all like crawfish colors then look at Toledo Gold

Chrome/blue is number one, but Toledo Gold or some other red or craw color is good too. If you have a good bite going, then it stops when clouds obscure the sun, it is likely the fishes' eyes have not adjusted to the light change. When that happens, switch colors until you find a winner, I start with Toledo Gold, then non-chrome fire tiger, then pearl/orange belly. I have had days where the sun was in and out, and they would only bite either on sun or shade, and any change shut them off. When they do that, get a sammich.

Chrome/Blue and Gold/Black are great choices.

There is one body of water I fish where red is the deal. Recently, I had a great outing there using the XCalibur Xr50 in Royal Red.

I like Chrome, Gold, chartreuse, Royal and Rayburn red,

well just got back from a smallie extravaganza, verdict is...................wait for it...............EVERYTHING!!!! haha no but seriously i threw firetiger, natural perch, chrome blue, and red craw. caught them on everyone. figured i would test out the colors i had after reading this thread

I think chrome w/blue or black is my #1 producer. At times, craw colors work well and, for night fishing, I have a solid black Rat-L-Trap that kills 'em. I don't have much luck with firetiger (in any bait) but the waters that I fish aren't all that cloudy or muddy.
