Looking at buying a boat that has stick steering with a 76 Evinrude 35 hp motor. Anyone have any idea how difficult it would be to convert to a steering wheel

The console installation would be the hard part I would think. I have only seen a few stick steer boats but none of them had a console to mount a steering wheel ass'y and may not have had room. And of course new cables(longer) would have to be installed..............Al

I converted a boat from stick steering to wheel steering several years ago. I bought an aluminum console and a steering wheel with shorter cables. Worked well for several years and was still working well when I sold that boat
