My brother Gary from Louiseville, KY. and myself from Smyrna TN. are planning a trip to lake Guntersville AL.
the third week of june. We will be fishing out of a rouge river 14ft canoe three or four days.
Any recomendations for canoe fishing Guntersville would be very much appreciated!!!
I was thinking trying the weed beds with frogs or flukes!!
I have caught lots of 3 and 4 pounders in Percy Preist and Old Hickery lakes, my brother has only caught the smaller Bass up north, so I am trying to get him on some 5+ pounders!!!
I have thought about a guide for one day any recomendations here would also be welcome!!
Thank you very much for your replys!!!!!

Guntersville is very large. Wind can get bad. Too bad for a canoe. I would suggest a guide.

If you like fishing structure i would recommend Town Ceek. The tornados of 2011 blew alot of trees over in the edge of the water.i Have caught some nice bass on Short Creek aswell.By going to Town Creek you will have access to deep water near the bridge and shallow water around most of the banks in that area.A friend and i have been catching a few bass on a Fluke in about 5 feet of water in the areas closer to the dam..Hope you all catch alot of fish at Guntersville.Be careful out there at times the lake can have alot of boat and jetski traffic.Good Luck

Well on the way down to Scotsboro we came across Crow creek so we said "Lets Fish"!!!! From the bank we caught half a dozon fish, and we
thought this is going to be a great trip. Then we stopped at Mud creek and did not catch anything, but we noticed the water was not as clear and
then we noticed the pink sign that said Herbicide has been sprayed " Do not swim, but you can keep fish" The next day we went out with Capt. Jake Davis and My brother caught a nice 3 to 4 pounder and I did not catch anything!!! Jake tryed and took us to several locations but it was not
our day. The next couple of days everywhere we put in including the state park ramps all had the pink signs and we did not catch anything! The
locals say the herbicide runs off all the big fish, seems true because we saw lots of bait fish but nothing was hiting our baits!! So we went back to Crow creek on the last day and caught about ten each( no pink sign there ) !!! We stayed at the Key West Inn $200 for three nights!!
We ate at Ruby Tuesday the first night and every night after that we ate at Jeffersons a sports bar type place Burgers, Wings, Oysters!!
The trip was not up to expectations but over all was not too bad!

Seems you had a good time, and a trip you will remember with your brother! It is not always the fish you remember but the times!

Oh yes we had a great time togather, and Gary did catch the bigest Bass he has ever caught!
I think if we had stayed here in Tn we could have had a good time also, so next time mayby we dont have to go so far away
but stay close to home!
