Just picked up a drop shot rig for the first time this week, and they are amazing! In 2-3 hours of fishing I caught 18 fish including two over 4lbs off of two sunken trees that lay about 15 feet apart. I was fishing the drop shot with about 15-18 inches in between the hook and sinker with a 6 inch zoom trick worm.
My New Favorite Technique!

Nice job, keep it up. I like to Drop Shot deep holes on river bends, creek channels, and in & around any cover I can find. It will get you into and out of places other baits can't swin through.

I have never tried drop shotting. Is this a good technique to use when pitching to timber in 10' of water? Or maybe shallow laydowns? I would normally throw a T-rig worm or other soft plastic. Just looking to give the fish something different to look at..

I'm here to tell you that drop shottin' catches more and more of my shallow water fish. This includes a lot of bigger bass, that turned their nose up, at a well placed jig or texas rig the previous cast!
For pressured bodies of water, there is nothing like it. I have been hitting a stained lake for the last couple of weeks with all of the power fishing techniques with mixed results. The minute I put on a drop shot with small soft plastics, it was one after another.
So, keep up the good work, Smokinshad.

best bait I have used recently in lay downs and wood in shallow water. You hardly ever hang up if you rig it right.I have never tried drop shotting.
