So I was fishing in the pond behind my house yesterday. I was throwing just a regular ol' white buzz, nothing fancy. Low and behold, basszilla came leaping out of the water with a splash like someone doing a cannon ball in a pool.
My heart stopped and you can just imagine the excitement as I fought this beast all the way to the dock I was standing on. Upon pulling her out of the water, I could see that she weighed at least 7 pounds, probably 10.
Note to self: Never again try to pull up a giant like this with just your pole...ALWAYS pull it up and slide it onto the bank. So anyone can tell at this point, as I was reaching out to grab her like the kid was on ET with the glowing finger...my pathetic weather trodden 6lbs test line snapped instantly and she fell gracefully back into the water with a shimmer in her eye as to say "another day my friend, another day".
*tear* *sob* *cursing*

I know the feeling....I lost a good one a few years back what would have been probably my first fish over 5lbs. That ain't too shabby for us Northerner. I made several mistakes that day too...
The magic lure in your tackle box is the lure you have the most confidence in.
