I know that I can't be the only local guy who fishes the Ross Barnett Reservoir. There are quite a few Mississippians here, and quite a few in central MS & Jackson.

So, who fishes it and where do you fish?

I have this one little spot, and a buddy of mine is trying to get me out to Pelahatchie Bay (I live in ridgeland so I fish my 'side' primarily), but he's had an issue with gators in his kayak and I just don't know about all that.

Anywho, post up if you hit The Rez!

I have fished there some time ago with my father when he was tourney fishing. I remember him catching a very young gator on a crankbait, and as soon as he got it unhooked, it was already yelping, and here comes mama! We booked it out of there! Quick!

That place is a freakin mudhole thats been sprayed to oblivion. Not to mention theres a tournament on it every freaking weekend so it just ends up being a *h*issing match between them and the pleasure boaters. i still manage to fish it a few times a month though, because i am insane. The "best" places usually are up river above highway 43 and pelahatchie bay. right now, before sunrise we have just been bank fishing on the main river since the current is next to nothing, and riding around looking for shad action. As the day progresses/sun comes out, we look for pads (whats left of them) next to deep water. I will admit...its a tough hole. Huge body of water and it's tough narrowing down location. People fish the rocks by the cause ways successfully and if we can get a few days of rain, stripers will bite at the spillway. There are huge stripers in the rez. PM me if you wanna chat about it more. i'd be going to calling panther right now if i were you. good to have you here!

Thanks for the info, Bud. A friend of mine is meeting me out at Pelahatchie bay friday morning around 5 for some canoe fishing. We're going to have a day or two of much needed rain today & tomorrow (if the forecast is accurate) and hopefully some bites.

I've lived in Madison about 2 years now but haven't owned a boat since I had been living here until a couple of months ago. Been spending a lot of time on the Rez since getting my boat but still learning it most success I've had so far has been up above 43 bridge.

Yea from what I've heard you've got to know somebody to get in over there. My subdivision has a private ramp on the Rez so guess I'll have to be happy with that lol.

Caroline might be an issue, but I don't hear great things about it from friends who live/lived there. Reunion is not an issue at all as I have two well-placed friends employed there. Is Reunion really that good for bass? hmm... I may have to call Scott then.

I live in Ridgeland and have been fishing my little spot on the because it takes about 8min to drive there from my house.

Honestly i've only heard stories about Reunion, but i take my buddy's word on it. And caroline is tough as well but its got some big bass. They stock it every year. What's key is when they cut down the trees to make room for houses, they piled em up and made basically a wall of wood, deep and right down the middle of the lake in a lot of parts. i can get exact details on location for you if you ever get in. Its produced good bass for me. Pete Ponds lives there and i've seen him catch some nice fich outta there. i'd love to fish some docks out there right now in this heat.

Anybody been doing any good on the Rez lately? I had been doing well but the last several weeks have been super tough for me.
