I'm trying to rig these up, but I'm unsure of what is considered the top of the bait. Are the eyes of the bait supposed to face up or down? What's got me confused is there is a groove on one side of the bait that I was assuming would help keep the hook more weedless, but then that puts the eyes of the bait "looking down" in the water. I've never really used creature baits before, so I don't wanna rig them wrong.

Doesn't make a bit of difference. Rig it one way, and when it gets torn up, bite off a piece of the head, flip it over and rig it again.

LOL, Eyes up :) The series of ridges on the back are for hiding the hook point (Skin Hooking) but just as Ghoti said that rooster can SOAR upside down too... He's coordinated like that you see ;)

Thanks for the help guys. I just fished it for a bit and I was amazed at how cool the bait looks in the water, especially with that rage rig fall. When fishing this, I was letting it drop for a few seconds, then popping it back up and repeating. Is this how it should be done??

That's one way, slow swimming, dragging the bottom are all effective as well. The fish will better dictate what presentation triggers them to eat it quickest.

Fish in my lake are suspended, so maybe I'll try the fall/swim/fall technique to get them. Fishing the bottom this month isn't working like it was last month unfortunately.
