Hey guys I havent been on here in awhile but im moving to utah from Rhode Island in august. I will be living in Salt Lake city, I was wondering if anyone had any advice on areas to fish. I've never been to the are before so i know nothing other than what i have read online. If anyone from the area ever needs someone for a day on the water or a partner for a tournament let me know. Thanks a lot guys any info would be helpful.

There are some excellent bass waters in Utah. Major lakes including Deer Creek Reservoir, Flaming Gorge Reservoir, Jordanelle Reservoir, Lake Powell, Pineview Reservoir, Piute Reservoir, Sevier Bridge Reservoir, Starvation Lake and Utah Lake all have healthy populations of bass. Other smaller lakes, ponds and rivers also hold bass. The Utah state record largemouth bass came out of Lake Powell and Midview Reservoir Lake Borham produced the UT state record smallmouth bass.

Connected Lakes is my favorite lake, just a group of small gravel pits, no bigger than 100 acres. No monsters, but lots of 2 - 5 pound largemouths and the odd 6 - 7.

Powell and Quail Creek are great largemouth bass fisheries, with Quail Creek probably the best all around largemouth fishery in the state. Pelican Lake near Vernal holds large numbers of bass and some huge bluegill, though most bass are under 4 pounds there. Jordanelle holds some big smallmouth and some largemouth as well. Don't overlook Recapture Reservoir near Blanding, as well as Deer Creek and Starvation for smallmouth bass.

At Powell, don't be afraid to harvest some smallmouth. There are too many in there and not many over 3 - 4 pounds. Fantastic place to catch 100 smallies in a day though, though most will be 1 - 2 pounds.

Don't overlook sand hollow. This is the best place to catch a 5 plus now. Many more bass are caught over 7 pounds there than quail right now, even though i believe the state record swims in quail. We have caught some monsters out of Pelican lake but like mentioned earlier, the lake is stunted by 1-2 pound bass. I made a quick video of fishing quail if you ever check out my profile. It was only from 5 trips though but there are a few bigguns mixed in. So,
Numbers?=Pelican
State record?= Quail (even though the state record was caught in Lake Powell, i believe Quail has a swimmer bigger than 10).
Big and Numbers?=Sand Hollow
Many smallmouth but small= Deer creek with a 3" senko

So if I want a quality Utah trip I should pick sand hollow over quail?

Jordanelle is the best big smallie fishery in Utah, but I would say the overall best is Flaming Gorge. Better size than Powell. Powell is best for numbers.

Yes, Sand hollow is more forgiving. You could fish Quail all day and only catch 3 or so. Sand Hollow always puts you in the double digit numbers. But, of the 3 you catch at quail, one will be over 4 pounds. Sand hollow, you will catch many small bass like Pelican but you get the occasional 5 pounder thrown in there. It gets more pressure than quail. Use small green pumpkin baits, small crankbaits, and a jig for the big bite.

My favorite spot woild uave to be either pineview just up the ogden canyon, caught many a largemouth shore fishin with a tiger muskie.sometimes, or lake powell, ive never went there stricto fish seeing as its pretty big but in the right marina there are some lunkers. Bullfrog is a good one or if you go into ice canyon ibl belive there are some decent sized ones as well. Im goin to flaming gorge upon release from the army to give that a shot. Ill be leavin mew york first week of july and was hopin to find someone with a boat that would t mind a partner. Good luck and tight lines.

Starvation's Smallie fishery beats Powell's hands down. A 2 pounder is a nice smallie at Powell, while a 2 pounder is common at Starvation. Caught tons of 1 - 2.5 pound smallies at Starvation by accident fishing for walleye.

Jordanelle is a great pot. Not much size, (im from florida so a bit spoiled) but decent numbers.
The 3 B's: Bass, Booze, and Bit... Ahh, you can figure that out.
