So I recently picked up a DX 744 & 745 along with a 705CB Glass. Love them. Almost too much in fact. I need to pick up another pair of Champions to go along with those three. I'm going to be replacing a pair of flipping sticks, yet I need to be able to use them as multi purpose rods as well. I think the new 804c will fit the bill for my lighter flipping rod as well as my paddletail rod. After speaking with Richard on the phone yesterday it sounds like it would be perfect, though I'm a little hesitant about buying a rod that very few people have used, much less seen. I'm also not sure about the 8 foot length. The other rod I'd really like to handle my heavier grass flipping, as wel as pull double duty as my frog rod. This is the one that is really confusing me. From what I understand the 735/736 are great frog rods, but not really suited for flipping because of the tips on them. Any of you out there used the 765/766 for frogs as well as flipping. I generally use plastic toads, but there are days down here on Okeechobee where nothing beats a hollowbelllied frog. Hopefully somebody out there has enough experience using what I'm looking for.
I'm really trying to limit myself to 5 rods. I primarily fish out of a small boat on electric only lakes, but I do make several trips a year to some of the larger Florida lakes with friends. Bringing more than 5 rods on somebody else's boat is just overkill IMO. I've got a hard enough time trying to keep my tackle selection minimal, I don't need to confuse myself more having too many rods.
Thanks a bunch guys.
